Our Design Philosophy

The Pottery Teacher

A ceramics teacher divided his class into two groups. One group would be graded solely on the quantity of work they produced—measured by the weight of clay they used. The other group would be graded on quality—they needed to produce just one perfect pot.

At the end of the term, a curious fact emerged: the works of highest quality were all produced by the group being graded for quantity.

While the "quality" group sat theorizing about perfection, the "quantity" group was busy making pots. They learned from each attempt—what worked and what didn't. By the end, they had built real skill through iteration.
